CIBA Courses
This 44-hour professional foundation course provides an integrated and practical understanding of international transport systems and basic cargo insurance principles within global trade operations.
The course explains how goods move across international supply chains through sea, air, road, and multimodal transport systems, and how these logistics decisions influence responsibility, cost allocation, and risk exposure.
Participants will also gain a fundamental understanding of cargo insurance as a protective mechanism in international trade, introduced at a basic and conceptual level in alignment with CIFFA-style foundational training.
The program is designed in a continuous learning flow to reflect real-world logistics operations, where transport, documentation, Incoterms® 2020, and risk concepts are interconnected.
How international transport systems operate in global trade
How goods move through sea, air, road, and multimodal networks
The role of freight forwarders and carriers in shipment execution
How international transport documentation is structured and used
How to interpret key documents such as Bill of Lading and Air Waybill
How freight operations and shipment coordination work in practice
How Incoterms® 2020 defines responsibilities and risk transfer
Where risks occur in international transport (loss, damage, delay)
Basic principles of cargo insurance in international trade
How insurance relates to transport responsibility and Incoterms
This course begins with an introduction to global trade and the role of logistics in international supply chains, followed by a detailed exploration of transport systems including sea, air, road, and multimodal operations.
Participants will study how shipments are planned, booked, and executed through freight forwarders and carriers, along with how transport documentation supports the movement of goods across borders.
The course then introduces Incoterms® 2020 as a framework for defining cost distribution, responsibility, and risk transfer between buyers and sellers.
A dedicated section is included to identify key risk points in international transport, including loss, damage, theft, and delay, and how these risks are managed within logistics operations.
Finally, the course provides a basic introduction to cargo insurance, focusing on its purpose, its role in international trade, and its relationship with transport decisions and Incoterms. This section remains strictly foundational and non-technical.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Understand the structure and flow of international transport systems
Explain the role of logistics in global trade operations
Identify different modes of transport and their functions
Understand the role of freight forwarders and carriers
Interpret basic international transport documents
Understand shipment processes from origin to destination
Apply basic knowledge of Incoterms® 2020 in trade scenarios
Identify key risk points in international logistics
Understand the basic purpose of cargo insurance
Connect transport decisions with risk and responsibility allocation
